The Schuylkill County Drug & Alcohol Program had dedicated itself to making sure individuals and families in Schuylkill County who have been affected by drug and/or alcohol abuse receive the services they need in order to live productive drug-free lives.  With funding provided through state and federal grant agreements, the Drug & Alcohol Program provides treatment and recovery support funding for uninsured or under insured county residents.  Funding for the following services is offered through the Drug & Alcohol Program:

Outpatient Treatment is a non-residential community based service that provides group and individual therapy.   This allows the individual to remain in their environment while addressing their drug and alcohol treatment needs.  Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization are also community based however, the services are offered at a greater number of sessions per week.

Detoxification is a 24 hour inpatient setting that is either medically managed or monitored depending on presenting symptoms and medical concerns of the individual seeking treatment.  Detoxification is the process of eliminating the substance(s) of abuse from the body while the individual is monitored in a controlled environment.

Rehabilitation is an inpatient 24 hour setting which is usually the step-down from detoxification which allows the individual time away from the community where they can focus on one-on-one counseling and group therapy.  The individual will learn skills necessary for recovery and may focus on co-occurring disorders and med management if appropriate to their needs.  Prior to being discharged from this level of care, the individual will be scheduled with appointments for outpatient treatment to continue the process of recovery.

Halfway House is also an inpatient 24 hour setting where individuals can be referred upon completion of rehabilitation.  This setting emphasizes protective and supportive elements of family living, and encourages and provides opportunities for independent growth and responsible community living.  The use of halfway house allows the individual to seek employment and attend meetings and other recovery-oriented events within the community while remaining free of substances; this level of care provides the opportunity to utilize the skills obtained in rehabilitation in a community setting.

The Drug & Alcohol Program will offer priority assessment and admission into treatment to the following populations in the following order:

  • Pregnant injection drug users
  • Pregnant substance users
  • Injection drug users
  • All other substance users
